Aquariums: Custom Marine Aquariums
Several type of species need custom marine aquariums built with their needs in mind. One such species is the seahorse. Seahorses are very popular because of their unique look and their peaceful mannerisms. Due to the fact that seahorses are so fragile, they need custom marine aquariums designed specifically for them. They move slowly for food, so having fish in the tank will almost guarantee that the seahorses will starve.
Many aquarists see a baby shark and really want to have it in their tank. Although smaller species of sharks can be kept in home aquariums, most people do not have an aquarium large enough to accommodate them. A shark will grow to need a tank of at least three to five hundred gallons within the first few years.
Custom Marine Aquariums for Predatory Species
Having predatory fish, such as groupers and lionfish, can be quite exciting, but they need to have custom marine aquariums designed for their needs. All these species get very large, and although they may be a few inches long when you buy them, they will quickly grow to become up to a few feet long.
Smaller species, such as damselfish, should never be kept in the same tanks as predatory species unless they are intended for a mid-afternoon snack. I once successfully raised a damsel with a grouper by placing the damsel in the tank when the grouper could not fit it in his mouth, but there is no guarantee that it will always work.
